![]() ![]() The second season of this immersive and captivating series, My Brilliant Friend, is now available to view on Sky Atlantic in the U.K. The screenplay was written by Elena Ferrante, Francesco Piccolo, Laura Paolucci and Saverio Costanza. The series was created by Saverio Costanzo, who also directed the episodes, with Alice Rohrwacher directing two episodes in the second season. Even the Italian channel shows the series with subtitles, as the dialogue is in thick Neapolitan dialect, adding to the authenticity of the story. My Brilliant Friend is HBO’s first non-English series. ![]() The third season will surely continue this shift in cinematic style as the series moves into the 1970s. The change in director and cinematographer for these two episodes establishes a turning point in the women’s friendship and in the story. Netflix and Fandango are joining forces to develop a series based on The Lying Life of Adults, the latest novel by the beloved Italian novelist Elena Ferrante.The series will be the second adaptation of Ferrante’s work at Netflix, followed by the 2021 movie The Lost Daughter starring Olivia Colman. The real stylistic transition occurs in episode 4 and 5 of the second season, as Happy as Lazzaro and The Wonders director, Alice Rohrwacher, takes over, with cinematographer Helene Louvart. ![]()
